Five ways to Frenchify one sweater

Sweater weather is officially here, which means it's time for your favorite knitwear to shine.

After showing us how to reinvent the classic white shirt, French fashion influencer and stylist Maud Parys is back with five ways to style one sweater.

Maud brings each look to life with one of her favorite Poète fragrances: Ballet. Now available in Wool Refresh, our newest Clothing Spritz™ for sweaters, coats, knitwear, and more. ♡

1. Fall is officially layer season

Slip a button-down shirt under your sweater. Let the collar, cuffs and hem peek out – and let the crisp, structured shirt play against the soft, fluffy mohair.

Take a cue from Maud and experiment with different shades of the same color. Her pale pink-on-pink combination shows just how striking ‘subtle’ can be.

Add a layer of fragrance to your look with a spritz of Wool Refresh: perfect for giving your favorite sweaters, knitwear, and coats a little je ne sais quoi.

2. Transformed in a cinch

A simple belt gives your sweater a whole new silhouette. Maud pairs hers with flowing, wide-leg trousers, creating a beautiful balance between definition and volume.

Choose a belt with an interesting texture or distinctive buckle, to give the outfit even more shape and character.

3. Put a ring on it

This is one of our favorite Maud tricks. Instead of tying your silk scarf in a knot, use a statement ring to gather the fabric at the front of your neck.

The ring becomes the centerpiece, adding an unexpected touch, and reinventing two accessories you already own.

4. The blazer effect

Dress up your sweater with a tailored blazer over your shoulders, for a look that says ‘sophisticated, but not stuffy.’

Maud adds a silk scarf around the waist as the finishing touch, bringing the outfit movement and just a hint of pattern. Cozy knitwear, sharp tailoring and flowing silk? We’re all in.

5. Why stop at one statement?

Sometimes, more really is more. Why choose just one statement piece?

Maud pairs her fluffy mohair sweater with chunky gold chains, sculptural cuffs, statement gold earrings and bold rings. The contrast is irresistible: delicate, airy knitwear against striking, sculptural gold.

Keep the clothing simple, layer the pieces you love, and let your jewelry take center stage.

bonus tip

When you find a sweater you love, you want to wear it as often as you can – but wash it as little as possible.

That's where Wool Refresh comes in. Created especially for wool and cashmere, Poète’s fine French fragrance spray adds extra days between washes, and an extra touch of luxury to your wardrobe.

So you can make the knits you love last.
